SUSTAINABLE PLANNING, CULTURAL HERITAGE, BUILT ENVIRONMENT

The curriculum addresses topics that are the core of research, integrating interdisciplinary synergies, in the knowledge and valorization of historical urban landscapes, as well as in the sustainable planning and management of cities and territories. The curriculum is oriented towards training high-profile researchers and professionals whose skills can find outlets in the development of concrete investigations and actions aimed at:

  • Developing measures to counteract the climate crisis and depopulation in internal and mountain areas, developing resilient and socially inclusive tools for adapting to climate change impacts, protecting biodiversity, managing socio-sanitary emergencies, reducing the pressure of settlement in the central historic cores and surrounding areas, to the ecological and digital transition, to the construction of predictive scenarios for improving quality of life, for the circular transition of cities and territories;
  • On a rigorous basis of enhancing urban and landscape heritage based on:
  1. Criteria, methodologies, advanced tools, and technologies;
  2. Actions of regeneration agglomerations, territories, cultural landscapes, archaeological sites, and unique building traditions;
  3. Evaluations of risks of anthropogenic, natural, or seismic origin.
  • To the recovery of urban areas, infrastructure, and services, with a focus on reducing urban sprawl and promoting environmental sustainability, of rationalizing the existing building heritage, of regenerating urban areas, degraded soils, and territories, of reducing social marginalization and improving environmental quality.

The longstanding collaboration with prestigious national and international research institutions, integration with funded European projects, and partnerships with national public and private entities have characterized the curriculum for years, aligning with the latest ministerial directives.
