National PhD programmes
UNICAM also coordinates or participates in national doctoral networks involving several universities, research institutions and host organizations. Calls and available positions may vary from one admission cycle or admission session to another. A separate Cycle XLII second-session opportunity is currently open in Theoretical and Applied Neuroscience.

Curricula and research areas
Many programmes are divided into curricula reflecting different scientific fields, methodologies and training needs. Review the curriculum descriptions to identify the pathway most consistent with your previous studies and proposed research.

Research topics and available positions
The official Call and its annexes specify the research fields and projects available for each admission session, together with position codes, curricula, host institutions, funding arrangements and any specific conditions. Cycle XLII second-session applications are currently open for six Regione Marche-funded Research Topics across five UNICAM PhD Programmes and for one additional Research Topic in the separate National PhD Programme in Theoretical and Applied Neuroscience. Applications close on 22 October 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Italian time.

Host institution and research environment
Not every position is necessarily based entirely at Camerino. Depending on the programme and Research Topic, doctoral activity may be carried out at UNICAM, a partner university, a research institution, a company or another organization indicated in the Call. Current Regione Marche-funded positions may also include specific research, training and mobility obligations connected with the funded project.

How to compare your options
Before applying, compare the available opportunities by considering:
• the scientific area and curriculum;
• the Research Topic and expected activities;
• the required academic background and skills;
• the working language and host institution;
• the scholarship or other funding conditions;
• any mobility, project-specific or reserved-position requirements.

Choosing your programme
Select the programme, curriculum and Research Topic that are scientifically consistent with your qualifications, experience and research interests. Always follow the application rules and limits established by the relevant Call.
Current Cycle XLII opportunities: second-session applications are open until 22 October 2026 at 1:00 p.m. for six Regione Marche-funded scholarships across five UNICAM PhD Programmes and one scholarship in Theoretical and Applied Neuroscience. The two procedures use separate Calls and separate PICA application portals. Final rankings for the first-session procedures have already been published.

Candidates who participated in the first session should instead consult the published final rankings and follow the applicable acceptance and enrolment instructions.
