Programme, curriculum and research topic

A PhD programme identifies a broad disciplinary and research area. A curriculum defines a more specific educational and scientific pathway, while the research topic describes the project or field connected with an available position.

PhD programmes developed at UNICAM

UNICAM offers doctoral programmes in architecture and planning, chemical and pharmaceutical sciences, computer science and mathematics, legal and social sciences, life and health sciences, and physics, Earth and materials sciences.

National PhD programmes

UNICAM also coordinates or participates in national doctoral networks involving several universities, research institutions and host organizations. Calls and available positions may vary from one admission cycle or admission session to another. For Cycle XLII, applications for the separate second-session Regione Marche-funded opportunity in Theoretical and Applied Neuroscience closed on 22 October 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Italian time. The shortlist of candidates admitted to the interview has now been published on the official Call page, together with the selection committee and online meeting details. The interview is scheduled for 26 October 2026 at 3:00 p.m. CET.

Curricula and research areas

Many programmes are divided into curricula reflecting different scientific fields, methodologies and training needs. Review the curriculum descriptions to identify the pathway most consistent with your previous studies and proposed research.

Research topics and available positions

The official Call and its annexes specify the research fields and projects available for each admission session, together with position codes, curricula, host institutions, funding arrangements and any specific conditions. Applications for the Cycle XLII second-session procedures concerning six Regione Marche-funded Research Topics across five UNICAM PhD Programmes and one additional Research Topic in the separate National PhD Programme in Theoretical and Applied Neuroscience closed on 22 October 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Italian time, and the deadline for reference letters expired on 23 October 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Italian time. The shortlists of candidates admitted to the interviews have now been published on the relevant official Call pages, together with the selection committees, interview dates, times and online meeting details. Online interviews are scheduled for 26 and 27 October 2026. Publication of the shortlists constitutes official notification.

Host institution and research environment

Not every position is necessarily based entirely at Camerino. Depending on the programme and Research Topic, doctoral activity may be carried out at UNICAM, a partner university, a research institution, a company or another organization indicated in the Call. Current Regione Marche-funded positions may also include specific research, training and mobility obligations connected with the funded project.

• the scientific area and curriculum;
• the Research Topic and expected activities;
• the required academic background and skills;
• the working language and host institution;
• the scholarship or other funding conditions;
• any mobility, project-specific or reserved-position requirements.

Choosing your programme

Select the programme, curriculum and Research Topic that are scientifically consistent with your qualifications, experience and research interests. Always follow the application rules and limits established by the relevant Call.

Cycle XLII second session: applications for six Regione Marche-funded scholarships across five UNICAM PhD Programmes and one scholarship in Theoretical and Applied Neuroscience closed on 22 October 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Italian time. The shortlists have now been published and online interviews are scheduled for 26 and 27 October 2026. The two selection procedures use separate Calls. Final rankings for the first-session procedures have already been published.
