CYCLE XLII · A.Y. 2026/2027 · UPDATE 21 SEPTEMBER 2026
Final rankings published – Acceptance of PhD positions
The final merit rankings for the general UNICAM Cycle XLII Call have been published. Candidates must check their application ID, assigned research topic and result in the official ranking decree and Annex 1.
Candidates listed as Admitted must accept their offered position or scholarship according to the instructions sent by the Advanced Studies Office. Candidates listed as Eligible may receive an individual offer if a position becomes available. The National PhD Programme in Theoretical and Applied Neuroscience follows a separate admission procedure.
IMPORTANT
Acceptance and enrolment are separate procedures
For the general UNICAM Cycle XLII Call, the acceptance deadline does not automatically begin on the date when the rankings are published. It begins when the candidate receives the relevant acceptance instructions or individual assignment proposal, as specified in the official ranking decree.
After accepting the position, candidates must complete the separate enrolment procedure within the deadlines communicated by UNICAM. Missing an applicable deadline may result in forfeiture of the offered position.

01
Check the ranking and assigned position
Consult the official final ranking and verify your application identification number, PhD Programme, curriculum, research field, assigned research topic, scholarship status and any host institution or funding conditions.
For the general UNICAM Cycle XLII Call, Annex 1 distinguishes between Admitted candidates, who are offered a specific position or scholarship, and Eligible candidates, who may be contacted if a position becomes available. An asterisk indicates an Under condition status.
Use the application identification number where results are published without displaying the candidate's full name. Publication of the results through the official channels constitutes official communication as specified in the relevant Call and ranking decree.
02
Accept the position within the applicable deadline
Candidates awarded a position must formally accept the specific position or scholarship offered to them, using the procedure established by the relevant Call and subsequent official instructions. Carefully review the research topic, scholarship, funding body, host institution and additional obligations before submitting the acceptance.
CYCLE XLII · ADMITTED CANDIDATES
5 working days from receipt of the acceptance instructions
Candidates listed as Admitted must complete and sign the acceptance form sent by the Advanced Studies Office and return it by email to dottorato@unicam.it within 5 working days from receipt of the instructions. If the candidate declines or does not respond within the deadline, they lose the right to the available positions or scholarships under the procedure.
CYCLE XLII · ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES CALLED THROUGH RANKING SCROLLING
5 days from receipt of the assignment proposal
Eligible candidates must wait for an individual offer. If contacted following ranking scrolling, they must complete and sign the acceptance form sent by email and return it to dottorato@unicam.it within 5 days from receipt of the assignment proposal. The ranking decree does not specify working days for this deadline.
For the general Cycle XLII Call, these deadlines are calculated from receipt of the relevant communication, not automatically from the publication date of the rankings. Other admission procedures, including TAN, must follow their own official rules and instructions.

03
Ranking updates and reassignment of positions
When a candidate declines an offered position or fails to accept it within the applicable deadline, the position may be offered to another eligible candidate in ranking order. Eligible candidates should continue monitoring official notices and any individual communications from the Advanced Studies Office.
Under the general Cycle XLII ranking decree, an eligible candidate may decline the scholarship or position associated with the first proposed research topic and request to remain in the ranking for other topics and corresponding positions that may subsequently become available.
Ranking scrolling for a specific topic remains subject to any objective eligibility requirements established by the Call. A candidate who does not meet the requirements for that topic cannot be considered for its reassignment. Declining all available offers or failing to respond within the prescribed deadline results in forfeiture of the right to available positions or scholarships, as specified in the decree.
04
Renunciation of the position or scholarship
Inform UNICAM promptly when you do not intend to accept an assigned position, so that the ranking can be updated without delay. For Cycle XLII, follow the instructions provided by the Advanced Studies Office and respect the deadline for responding to the offer.
Renunciation of the scholarship while retaining the doctoral position is possible only where permitted by the Call and applicable rules. Request confirmation before submitting any declaration. Eligible candidates who wish to decline only the first proposed topic while remaining available for other topics must explicitly follow the procedure described in the Cycle XLII ranking decree and the individual instructions received.

05
Complete the enrolment procedure
After formally accepting the assigned position, follow the instructions issued by the Advanced Studies Office to complete enrolment and submit the required personal, academic and administrative documents.
The acceptance deadline and the enrolment deadline are separate. For the general Cycle XLII Call, the ranking decree establishes the acceptance deadlines but does not provide a single enrolment deadline applicable to every candidate. Follow the specific enrolment instructions subsequently communicated by UNICAM.
Enrolment becomes final only after all required checks, documents and payments have been completed.

Conditional admission may also relate to circumstances that are still being verified. The condition can be resolved only after the relevant checks have been completed or the required qualification has been obtained and communicated. Follow any further documentation instructions issued by UNICAM.
