PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROCESSES IN EARTH SYSTEMS

PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROCESSES IN EARTH SYSTEMS

PHYSICS, EARTH AND MATERIALS SCIENCES

The Earth Sciences curriculum of the Doctoral program focuses on cutting-edge research in structural geology, sedimentology, mineralogy, petrology, paleontology, geomorphology, volcanology, georesources, sustainability, and, more generally, the physical and chemical study of planetary systems and materials.

The investigations methods primarily include experimental research conducted both in intern facilities and in international structures such as large-scale facilities (e.g., synchrotron light sources) and numerical modeling.

Both collaboration with international groups and the extensive opportunities to conduct part of the research abroad allow our doctoral students to work in an international environment characterized by high interdisciplinarity.

These features allow our doctoral students to broaden their experience and establish professional contacts both within and outside of Italy, while at the same time enabling them to build a solid foundation for their future career.
