INDUSTRY 4.0

BLOCKCHAIN E DISTRIBUTED LEDGER TECHNOLOGY

Industry 4.0 encompasses a new business vision that promotes innovation and adds value to businesses through the integration of pervasive ICT technologies (IoT, Cloud and Edge Computing, AI, and Machine/Deep learning) into services, products, and manufacturing plants. Its goal is to provide the industrial production system with increased automation, responsiveness, efficiency, and automatic optimization of process improvements.

The curriculum focuses on Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology research for Industry 4.0 applications, covering both theoretical and applied aspects. The research problems include, for example, the identity and responsibility of digital users across business units and consortia, scalability, interoperability, and trust in Blockchain systems for Industrial IoT, transparency, information sharing, and privacy control in the next generation of Blockchain technology for intelligent applications. These are numerous and relevant application areas that can be explored. These can involve supply chain management processes, which encompass the myriad of connections along the value chain for the creation and distribution of goods, the multitude of payments and invoices, and the entire flow of materials and information. Similarly, quality control processes, waste reduction, and commercial finance can benefit from Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology with the same level of complexity. Knowledge and skills are required to guide the integration process of Blockchain in innovative Industry 4.0 scenarios. To achieve this, direct involvement of organizations that play a leading role in this field is planned.
