SOCIAL SYSTEMS AND INTELLIGENT SOCIETIES

BLOCKCHAIN E DISTRIBUTED LEDGER TECHNOLOGY

Blockchain is increasingly becoming a tool to enhance transparency and data traceability in intelligent societies and social systems. As a decentralized infrastructure, it can manage emerging networks such as transparent citizen services, public data sharing, and support for decentralized identities. Web3 claims a vision of the Internet that disrupts the intermediation of Big Tech by fully decentralizing the web. This new model of the web largely revolves around Blockchain technology, enabling the integration of cryptocurrencies and tokens on many social media platforms. This provides the opportunity to reward users for their social actions and define Non-Fungible Tokens, digital assets representing real-word objects like art, music, games, and videos, thus creating a new form of decentralized finance, Social Finance. Blockchain technology defines a new, user-centric, secure, censorship-resistant, and rewarding model for users, offering them quality and reliable content. The curriculum will develop both theoretical and practical skills:

  1. Theory: When considering new models of social interaction, new and stimulating theoretical issues arise. To understand the interactions between social and economic layers at different scales, support is needed not only from technical experts but also from sociologists, lawyers, economists. Furthermore, the enormous number of transactions a social system can generate requires improving the scalability of the current Blockchain (off-chain channels, sidechains, etc.).
  2. Applications: New application scenarios for Blockchain in the context of social and smart communities are emerging. Among these, of utmost interest are the integration of rewards and tokens on social platforms, the integration of Blockchain with metaverses, and the development of Blockchain-based platforms for intelligent communities.
